Restaurants
The Dordogne is famous for its gastronomic products made from goose or duck, but also cepe mushrooms and truffles. The department is the chief French producer for walnuts and strawberries.
You’ll also find great local wine – Percharment, as an example.
Restaurants we can recommend:
Maison Lissajoux - super cool but pricey breakfast boulangerie cafe in Sarlat
La Savie, in Meyrals, open air in summer
L’Addresse, in Sarlat. Not cheap, but very good quality
Lo Gorissado, a farm restaurant, 4km down the hill through St Andre village, open air, long walk, but a nice one!
Michel Lacombe, around 6km away on the D47, check Trip Advisor for exact location, very good value and rustic, recommended but you’ll need to like duck!
Sesame, Saint Cyprien for cheap plat jours
There’s one more that is a little unusual we’ve recently found:
La Terrasse et Chateau La Benechie - only around 2km from the house. Very, very good BBQ from a Texan and Norwegian couple, using imported hickory chips - great when you’ve had enough of duck!
Finally, serious cuisine for special occasions
